Mission

The mission of the ACT Youth Wing is to provide the broadest range of theatrical experience and education we can to the greatest number of young people we can while maintaining the highest level of quality we can in a safe and welcoming haven.

Workshops

These paid workshops are held from August - May at the Aiken Community Theatre on Newberry Street in downtown Aiken and are split into two semesters. Semester I Workshops will be held on 8/24, 9/21, 10/19 and 11/16 with a semester-end performance on 12/14, and Semester II workshops will be held on 1/18, 2/8, 3/14 and 4/18 with a semester-end performance on 5/23. Grades 4 - 7 meet from 11:00am - 12:30pm and grades 8 - 12 meet from 1:00 - 2:30. Tuition is $25 per child per semester, and $10 for each additional sibling in the family. Classes are designed to teach basic theatre stage skills, such as Stage Movement, Finding Your Character, Improvisation and Script Analysis in an age-appropriate and engaging manner. We want to teach the theatre arts, but we also want our members to have fun and form friendships with other like-minded students from throughout our community. Parents can register their children and pay tuition in person at the workshops, and we accept cash, check or credit cards.

Immersion Program

In 2011, we established the Immersion Fund, supported by the Broadway & Beyond Gala. With the monies raised, we are able to take a select group of students to intensive regional workshops, such as Broadway Student Summit in NYC, Camp Broadway in Atlanta, and the Southeastern Theatre Conference. ACT also offers its own in-depth workshops through the ACT Academy which offers various short term classes for a fee. The opportunities are wide and varied!
