Dear ACT Supporters and Subscribers:

The Aiken Community Theatre board of directors met in an emergency session conference call Monday evening to determine ACT’s response to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Out of an extreme sense of caution and concern for our casts, crews, and audience members, the ACT board agreed to follow the Center of Disease Control’s recommendation of not holding large group events for eight weeks beginning for ACT on March 17.

This decision means that ACT will cancel the following shows and events:

  • The play Death by Golf

  • The Musical Annie

  • All workshops

Special events including Youth Wing events, and the May Coffee House. At this point, our two summer shows will remain on the schedule pending additional announcements from the CDC and other government officials. Our box office will remain open for phone calls and emails, but not for in-person visits. E-mails to info@aikencommunitytheatre.org will provide the quickest response.  If you are an ACT subscriber, the board realizes that this decision means you are not receiving full value for your investment in ACT’s season. Here are the options we can offer:

  • If you consider the prorated value of the remaining shows as a donation to ACT, we will provide you with a donation tax letter to record your donation for your tax return.

  • Alternately we can provide you with two admit one tickets that can be used for any shows in the 20-21 season as compensation for the two shows that we are having to cancel due to the Coronavirus threat to our families and friends.

Please contact Vivian Johnson at the ACT box office by email to let us know your preference.
If you have prepaid tickets for the shows we must cancel, the box office manager will restore the charges to your credit card unless you notify us you would like to donate the amount to assist ACT financially. If so, a tax donation letter will be provided.

If you paid cash for tickets, please let our box office manager know your preference whether you would like a refund or you would like to make the amount a donation to ACT.  Alternatively, donations and donation information can be found on our donations page.

On behalf of the ACT board of directors, we sincerely regret not being able to complete our season, but we have no other option to help keep our casts, crews, and our supporters from being harmed by the Coronavirus.

Wishing you and yours all the best as we navigate the unfortunate circumstances we find ourselves in.

Thurmond Whatley,
Executive Director, on behalf of the ACT Board of Directors.
