About the Play
Come From Away is a musical by Canadian writers Irene Sankoff and David Hein, based on the true story of the 7,000 airline passengers stranded in Gander, Newfoundland, after the 9/11 attacks, and the small town that welcomed them. The show, which features 12 actors playing multiple roles, depicts the unexpected camaraderie and compassion that emerged as locals opened their homes and hearts to the “plane people,” turning strangers into friends. It has received numerous awards, including an Olivier Award for Best Musical, and is celebrated as a story of humanity and kindness in the face of tragedy.
